Bengaluru: The Congress party, which has always criticised the BJP and the RSS is now looking at taking leaf out of the BJP and the RSS’ playbook.
DK Shivakumar, who was recently appointed as the Chief of Karnataka Pradesh Congress, but is yet to formally take over the charge has said that he will not shy away from looking into the playbook of the RSS and the BJP to ensure electoral success of his party.
Shivakumar has said that the RSS and the BJP’s cadre-based training has helped the BJP immensely in its electoral success, while the Congress has always been a ‘mass-based party’. “There is a need to transform ourselves,” he said.
“The RSS strategy of identifying young minds, grooming cadres and initiating them into politics by inducting them into the BJP has yielded good results,” he told The Print in an exclusive interview.
DK Shi also said that despite legacy, history and performance, the Congress has never marketed itself well, while the BJP has managed to market itself despite having done nothing much.
Known as the trouble-shooter of the Congress party, DKShi has said that he has taken the onus of bringing back the Congress to power at the state.
Meanwhile, his official coronation, which was scheduled for June 7 has been postponed due to the lockdown rules in place and if sources are to be believed than take over the helm of affairs of the Congress in the state is not going to be a cakewalk for the trouble shooter, considering the fact that the Congress has been divided into two factions- one led by Siddaramaiah and the other led by DKShi himself.
