Bengaluru: The ‘troubleshooter’ of Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition and State Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar has managed to convince rebel Congress MLA M T B Nagaraj against resignation after a prolonged meeting at Hotel Taj Vivanta here on Saturday, July 13.

Speaking to a media contingent who was waiting for a statement outside the hotel for hours together, DKShi said that M T B Nagaraj had helped the Congress party whenever it faced crisis and that he is one of the senior most leaders of the party.

Giving it an emotional touch he said, “M T B Nagaraj has been in the party from the past 40 years and he has proven to be the ‘saviour’ of the party, whenever a crisis struck. Hence, we will forget all the bad times and the confusions between us. We will live united and die together.”

Meanwhile, DKShi said that M T B had promised him and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G Parameshwar of pacifying another rebel Congress MLA from Chikkaballapur Constituency, Dr. Sudhakar.

“M T B Nagaraj has assured me and DyCM Dr. Parameshwar of convincing Dr. Sudhakar to meet former chief minister and CLP leader Siddaramaiah”, he said.

DKShi hugged M T B Nagaraj in front of everyone outside the hotel premises and said that they were ready to resume their work as legislators by forgetting all bitter memories.

It may be recalled that, earlier this week, rebel Congress MLAs M T B Nagaraj and Dr. Sudhakar had submitted their resignations to Speaker Ramesh Kumar. After this, Sudhakar was dragged by several Congress leaders and party workers towards Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries, Commerce & Industries,  K J George’s office in Vidhana Soudha’s third floor, which had later, transpired into a massive political drama.
