Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress, over the past few weeks, has been attacking the BJP-led state government over their handling of the novel coronavirus crisis in Karnataka. In the latest bit of criticism, DK Shivakumar, the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday, July 18, accused the state government of corruption in the purchasing of medical equipment.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the state Congress chief lashed out at the Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa-led government for purchasing the equipment at a much higher rate than the market price.
“‘CORONA CORRUPTION’ of BJP govt is exposed in this Ventilator purchase scam,” he wrote in his tweet and attached a clipping of a Kannada article that “exposed” the “scam”.

“TN Govt purchases at ?4.78 lakh per ventilator, Karnataka Govt has purchased it at ?18.20 lakh per ventilator!” he added, demanding that the CM give his answer on the matter.
According to a reporet by Times Now, when DKShi was asked about the allegations he made, the KPCC chief spoke about how this was the biggest scandal in the last 60 years in Karnataka and claimed that his is in contact with doctors and local government in Tamil Nadu. He added that various TN officials disclosed to him the price of the ventilators.
The Congress leader assured that he cross-checked this information and determined it to be true.
