Bengaluru: Ambitious Disneyland project at KRS of Mandya proposed by the state government has now encountered yet another legal hurdle.
According to the documents, the project is notified as the protected forest zone by the union forest ministry where construction works are banned.
According to the activists who have raised the issue with the Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka TM Vijay Bhaskar, the KRS dam is in the protected forest area as per the records. “The state government can’t take up any construction works in the area as per the order,’ they informed.
The state government is yet to respond for this.
It can be recalled that the state government is planning to construct a Disneyland replica in the KRS dam premises at an estimated cost of Rs.1,300 crores in the name of tourism promotion, which is opposed by locals, experts, and the farmers’ groups.
