Bengaluru: Whatever may be the BJP’s plans for Karnataka, the worst ever Lok Sabha election results for the JDS and Congress in the state has come as a blessing in disguise for the coalition government led by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, at least for now.

The experts and the BJP were expecting a big division between the JDS and Congress immediately after the results were out. They also expected a war of words to erupt between Siddaramaiah and CM HDK, however, both the party leaders decided to strengthen the coalition government instead of waging war on each other.

According to sources, on Friday morning state legislature party leader Siddaramaiah sent his trusted colleague M B Patil and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao to JDS supremo H D Devegowda’s residence. His message was to the JDS leader was “let us not go apart, let the government continue”. He assured that he will not criticise him or HDK.

Siddaramaiah’s diplomacy paid rich dividends as HDD agreed to the proposal and assured that he will not take revenge against the Congress or Siddaramaiah.

Late in the evening, CM HDK met with Siddaramaiah and discussed the strategy for the future. At the end of the meeting, the two seemed very happy and informed that this government will continue.

According to sources, Siddaramaiah gave a pep talk to HDK on running the government and assured their cooperation.
