Did central agencies convince IMA scam accused Khan to return to India?

Bengaluru: While the state government, led by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, faces a political rebellion from within its own ranks, it has now been confirmed that central agencies were behind the return of IMA Ponzi scheme accused Mansoor Khan.

It is learnt that the central agencies convinced Khan that if he spills the beans of the entire scam, he will be provided with security and his rights will be safeguarded. Khan decided to return to India only after receiving these assurances from the agencies.

“He was not interested in returning to India but the central agencies managed to convince him. That is why he landed in New Delhi instead of coming straight to Bengaluru. If he had landed in Bengaluru, the Karnataka police would have taken him into their custody,” explained sources privy to the developments.

“The Central government is aware of the fact that a few senior leaders from Karnataka and a few officers are involved in the scam. It is planning to build an air-tight case against all the accused in this scam so, they convinced Khan to travel to New Delhi. Henceforth, he will be under the protection of the central agencies,” the sources said.
