Bengaluru: With the idea of sending a strong message to the activists of the JDS and the Congress, JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched much-awaited joint campaign in the state in the run up to the Lok Sabha election polling. On Tuesday, they addressed a massive gathering in Chikkaballapura and campaigned for former CM Veerappa M Moily, incumbent MP of Chikkaballapura.

Speaking on the occasion, Gowda stated that it is the need of the hour to support the secular parties to protect the country.

“Today the country is in the hands of the communal forces. It is dangerous to the country’s integrity. So we want a secular government, both in Karnataka and at the centre,” he said.

“JDS and Congress activists must shed their differences in the state keeping in mind the interest of the country,” he appealed.

Former CM Siddaramaiah stated that there is no difference of opinion between the JDS and the Congress now. “Today thieves are also calling themselves chowkidar. How come those who went for prison can claim that they are chowkidars?,” he questioned.

He also expressed confidence that the JDS-Congress alliance will sweep the state.
