Bengaluru: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) working with the Shivajinagar police station committed suicide on Saturday, January 26. Reportedly, his family informed the police that he was depressed by his poor health. A case of unnatural death (UDR) has been registered.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as ASI D Ramasomappa (57), a native of Vijayapura. He was discharged from the hospital last week, after receiving treatment for his ill health. He reportedly suffered from diabetes, blood pressure and asthma.
He was staying at the Shivajinagar police quarters with his wife Munirathnamma on Queen’s Road. His two children, a son and a daughter, are working in Hyderabad. They were in the city till their father was discharged, after which they returned to Hyderabad.
Munirathnamma, in her complaint to the police, informed that he committed suicide when he was home alone on Saturday. Reportedly, he had sent her out to get him some fruit juice. She found his body at around 11 AM when she returned home. “He hanged himself using a cloth tied to the ceiling fan,” she informed.
Reportedly, she and a few neighbours rushed Ramasomappa to a hospital, but he was declared brought dead.
Police are yet to find a suicide note.
