Bengaluru: Following the death of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the announcement of the BJP’s list of Lok Sabha candidates has been delayed.
On Sunday, after the party core committee meeting, party state unit president B S Yeddyurappa departed for New Delhi to get the approval for the final list of candidates for the Lok Sabha constituencies. BSY does not want to field any candidates in the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency and has extended the party’s support to independent candidate Sumalata.
As per the original plan, the BJP central election commission meeting was scheduled on Monday and it was widely expected that the meeting will clear the candidates from the state. But now, the meeting has been postponed.
“The meeting is expected to be held on Tuesday where we will get a clear picture,” said a BJP leader.
