Bengaluru: The state government will launch the first ever dedicated online registry of organ donors of the state on June 21. Aadhar number has been made mandatory for both donors and recipients.
According to the state health and family welfare department officials, this website which is named as ‘Jeevasarthakathe’ will be launched by the Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah on Wednesday at Vidhana Soudha.
‘Jeevasarthakathe’ is the official organ transplant authority set up by the state government in November 2016 with a seed fund of Rs.2 crores. This authority has its branches in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Belagavi. Authority is also planning to launch its branches in Mangalore, Hubballi, Dharwad and Kalaburgi.
According to the sources, till now this authority has coordinated around 300 organ harvesting in the state.
