Bengaluru: Over fifteen well-known personalities including journalist Dinesh Amminmattu, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat have received a death threat for speaking out against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The death threat stated that all of them will be murdered on January 29. The threat has appeared in the form of a handwritten letter that was addressed to each of the fifteen people.
Mahendra Kumar (ex-Bajrang Dal), Dwarakanath Chokka (advocate-writer), actors Prakash Raj and Chetan, Mahesh Chandra Guru, Bhagawan, BT Lalitha Nayak, Nijagunananda Swamiji, Nidumamidi Veerabhadra Swamiji, Agni Shridhar, and Brinda Karat are named in the letter.
Meanwhile, police informed that they have launched an investigation and are looking into the source of the letter as well as the individual who wrote it.
