Bengaluru: Following complaints that customers and traders are not following the social distancing guidelines, the BBMP decided to shut down the iconic Russell market for the next 10 days.
The police blocked the entrance to the market and asked the customers not to enter.
According to an order issued by joint commissioner BBMP east zone Pallavi, it has been pointed out that the traders inside the market, as well as the customers, are not adhering to the rules prescribed for containing the spread of COVID-19.
BBMP officials asked the city police to ensure that the market will be shut down completely.
If sources are to be believed, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa convinced the Muslim leaders in this regard in a meeting earlier on Friday morning.
