Bengaluru: Amid the fear of Covid 19 spread, residents of atleast 110 villages across the state blocked the entry of outsiders into the village.
Many resorted to blocking the roads by digging a ditch across the road, piling mud on the road and by constructing fences.
Villagers are taking this extreme step following the reports that those who are working in the cities like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru are returning to their native villages following 21 days lockdown.
According to the authorities, this trend is reported from various places across the state.
“From Bengaluru rural to Bidar, tens of villages are now cut out of the rest of the world as the locals digged the roads or have installed fence,” informed an officer from the state rural development and panchayat raj department.
“This trend reveals the fear among the general public on the spread of the Covid 19. But the biggest challenge is repairing the roads once the normalcy returns,” he said.
