Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City Police are reportedly on the lookout for a man purported to be a driver working for one of the cab aggregators in the city.
On February 27, a Twitter user posted a selfie video showing the taxi driver say that a situation similar to the recent Delhi riots would arise in other cities, including Bengaluru.
“This Guy Is From Bangalore Speaking In Kannada Language Telling Hindus To Do The Same In #Bangalore What Is Happening In #DelhiRiots2020 .. He Want Every Hindu To Carry Rods And Sticks With Them Any Time The Violence Will Start .. @Uber_BLR He Is Working For Your Cab Service + [sic]” the user tweeted.
In the video attached to the tweet, the man rants against Muslims in particular, warning them not to “underestimate” the majority community. He also urges Uber and Ola drivers to keep a rod or weapon in their cabs to use them when necessary.
The video went viral soon after it was posted.
Outraged, Twitter users demanded that Uber take appropriate action against the driver and also urged the Bengaluru Police to take cognizance of the video and act.
