Cops go on spree nabbing former aides of forest brigand Veerappan

Bengaluru: It is a bad time for former aides of slain forest brigand Veerappan. Chamarajanagara police have launched a special drive to nab his former associates who are absconding. On Wednesday, Ramapura police of the district have arrested a former associate was absconding since last 26 years.

Arrested is identified as Murugesh bin Gurunatha, 46, a resident of Aathur vollage near Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border.

According to the district police, a case was registered against Gurunatha 26 years ago in Ramapura police station, but he was absconding since then. Gurunatha, who had taken to farming was nabbed from his field and was later produced before the court. He has been remanded to police custody.

It can be recalled that on August 29, district police had arrested Shivaswamy alias Double Gundi (55) another associate of Veerappan. He was absconding since 25 years ago. Gundi was a resident of Veppade village in Erode district in Tamil Nadu.
