Bengaluru: City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao has warned people against getting out on the streets to carry out proessions in a bid to perform the ‘lamp lighting exercise’ spoken by the Prime Minister.
It may be recalled that couple of days ago, PM Narendra Modi called upon the entire nation to switch off the lights in their homes at 9 pm on Sunday and light candles/ oil lamp or keep the flash light of their mobile phones on to show that the entire nation is together in fighting the Corona Virus crisis.
Speaking on these lines, Rao, in a stern message to the city residents stated that as per the lockdown rules, section 144 has been enforced across the city.
“So there is no permission for any kind of procession or lighting lamps on the roadside. The public can light lamps, candles in their houses, apartments or rooftops. Maintaining social distance is very important,” he said.
He also warned action if any one fails to follow the rules.
It may be recalled that in parts of the country, people had come out on streets as a huge gathering to ring the bell to applaud the services and contribution of medical professional recently, after the PM gave a call to appreciate the services of medicos.
Though the PM had specifically asked people to come out at their blaconies to clap hands for medical professional, cases of gatherings were reported from many parts of the country.
