Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) suspended Kampli MLA J N Ganesh for allegedly assaulting fellow Congress MLA from the Ballari district, Anand Singh inside a resort in Bidadi in the outskirts of the city.

Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah issued an order in this regard and KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao approved the same.

According to the Congress leaders, Dinesh Gudu Rao formed a committee led by DCM Dr. G Parameshwara to conduct an inquiry against J N Ganesh. K J George and Krishna Bairegowda will also be on this committee.

“As requested, the committee will furnish a detailed report on the whole episode within the next seven days,” informed Dinesh Gundu Rao.

If sources in the Congress are to be believed, following the episode, it was decided at a CLP meeting held at Bidadi on Monday that no matter what happens in the state, they will not to continue ‘resort politics’. “The whole episode has given a bad name for the party across the country. As it is the responsibility of the JDS to save this coalition government, henceforth there will not be any resort politics by the Congress,” said a senior leader who was present at the meeting.

According to reliable sources, the BJP is likely to make an offer to Ganesh to quit the Congress and join them.
