Bengaluru: Newly elected MP from Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency GS Basavaraju of the BJP has stated that if the alliance parties had fielded incumbent MP SP Muddahanumegowda as the Congress candidate from the constituency, the BJP would have lost. “Muddahanumegowda was a strong candidate. The Congress has done a favour by not fielding him,” he said.
Speaking to the reporters in Tumakuru, he stated that all the Congress leaders are his friends. “But I don’t know whether they supported me in the election,” he said.
He also stated that Tumakuru voters are well aware of the fact that Deve Gowda family is known for lies. “This public perception is the reason for the defeat of Deve Gowda,” he said.
He also urged Deve Gowda to retire from politics as he owed in the election campaign.
