Bengaluru: All India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi has directed the state Congress leaders to follow soft Hindutva to counter the Hindutva policy of the BJP.

“It is crucial for the party to win the forthcoming Assembly polls to form the government,” said Rahul after holding a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr.G. Parameshwar and others in New Delhi regarding the tactics to be followed for the election.

Rahul Gandhi directed the State leaders to prepare a list of 150 candidates, where there should not be any confusion, stated sources.

He even held separate converations with different state leaders and collected information on the political mood in the state. Later, he directed all leaders to go to elections unitedly. Meanwhile, Rahul would carry out his first phase of campaigning in the state, for three days starting from February 10, with a conference at Bengaluru.

As BJP is following a Hindutva agenda, Congress leaders were told to be careful about the religious issues. A strict message has been sent out not to label themselves as ‘anti-Hindu’. He also explained the problems of local Congress leaders in Gujarat and directed to be conscious about unwanted controversies. To counter BJP, he directed to strengthen the party from booth-level.

Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah explained the one month ‘Sadhana-Sambrama’ was a success and he has a got a good response from the people. There is no anti-incumbency factor in the state, he said.
