Bengaluru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi has directed the state Congress leaders to prepare a people-friendly manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections.
A team of Congress leaders under the leadership of senior leader Veerappa Moily are involved in preparing the party manifesto. Rahul wants the Congress leaders to initiate discussions with people to understand their needs and demands and later design the manifesto accordingly.
Since the party manifesto should respond to the demands of the people, Rahul has directed leaders to collect the opinion of common man and experts, said AICC Secretary and Karnataka-in-Charge Madhu Gowda Yakshi. “The manifesto will accord prominence to social and economic issues related to the development of the state. Various developmental works carried out by the Siddaramaiah government will help the party emerge victorious,” he said.
Rather than preparing a manifesto inside the office, it should be prepared after discussing with people on various levels in society, he opined.
It can be recalled that, before the Gujarat assembly elections, Telecom Expert Sam Pitroda had met experts from the various field of society, collected their opinion before preparing a manifesto. Importance was given to education, health, service, employment opportunity, environment etc.
