Bengaluru: With just three days left for the BBMP new mayor, deputy mayor and standing committee elections, the ruling Congress and the JDS have finalised the power-sharing formula. As per the decision taken in a meeting of senior leaders of both the parties, the Congress will get mayor post while JDS member will become deputy mayor.
Surprisingly, the JDS which was given chairman posts of five standing committees last time will get only four committees this time, but these four will be powerful tax and finance committee.
The meeting was attended by JDS supremo H D Devegowda and home minister Ramalinga Reddy.
According to the sources, JDS has decided to give deputy mayor and all standing committee chairman posts to non-Vokkaliga corporators keeping an eye on the votes of all the communities in the 2018 state assembly election.
