Cong goes all out, appoints 145 leaders as election in-charge for by-polls

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has appointed a whopping 145 party leaders as election in-charge for the state’s 5 constituencies where the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections will be held.

According to a press release issued by KPCC state president Dinesh Gundu Rao, these leaders have been asked to remain in their respective constituencies till the voting on November 3, and ensure the victory of the alliance candidates.

The press release also states that 8 ministers have been appointed as in-charge leaders for the prestigious Ballari Lok Sabha constituency, where the party has fielded MLA V S Ugrappa as their candidate.

Major irrigation minister DK Shivakumar will be the overall in-charge. Six MPs, 23 MLAs and 14 MLCs have been asked to work in a different constituency, said a source.

Meanwhile, DyCM G Parameshwara and MP DK Suresh will be heading the party campaign in the Jamakhandi Assembly constituency and Ramanagara constituency respectively. Revenue minister RV Deshpande will be leading the party charge in the Shivamogga Lok Shaba constituency, where JD(S) candidate Madhu Bangarappa will be facing off against BJP’s BY Raghavendra, son for former CM and BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa.
