Bengaluru: The problems surrounding Tipu Jayanti simply do not seem to get over. While a section of people has been wanting to stop the celebration itself, the government which is hellbent on celebrating the same is now facing yet another confusion.
It is said that the HDK government has not yet decided the venue of the event.
While some say that the event will be held at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha, many others say it will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra and now ministers of the HDK government are divided over the event venue.
All started with DCM Dr. G Parameshwar announcing that Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated at the Ravindra Kalakshetra, keeping in mind the security issues. All these years the event was celebrated inside the banquet hall.
A decision to shift the celebration venue from the Vidhana Soudha to the Ravindra Kalakshetra was taken after a meeting between the state home department authorities and the police, which was chaired by the DCM Parameshwar himself.
But now, minister for food and civil supplies, Zameer Ahmed Khan stated that the Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated only at the banquet hall. He has made it clear that there is no question of changing the venue.
This statement comes amidst police fear that celebrating the Tipu Jayanti inside the banquet hall may trigger protest and pose a challenge to the law and order situation.
