Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has continued the recruitment spree at his office. Over the last four months, he has appointed 450 staff members and among these newly recruited employees, around 250 have been recruited on a contract basis.
According to the details furnished by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in reply to an RTI application, between June 1 and September 30, 450 staff have been hired by the CMO. Among them, 250 are on a contract basis while the rest of the staff have either been transferred or recruited from other government departments on deputation.
According to RTO activist BS Gowda, no CM has ever recruited these many staff in such a short period of time. “Every month, crores of rupees are spent on salary and other perks for employees at the CMO. Most of these staff don’t have any work to do or space to work,” he alleged.
