Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has dropped plans of going ahead with the proposed Janashirvada Yatra. Speaking to reporters in Dharwad, the chief minister made it clear that he has decided not to take out any yatra.

It can be recalled that recently the All India Congress Committee (AICC) had advised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G Parameshwar not to carry out different yatras.

As per the original plan, Siddaramaiah was planning to carryout the yatra from December 15. As part of the yatra it was decided to visit all the 224 constituencies to reach out the masses on the various welfare schemes of the state government.

According to the sources in the KPCC, presently the party is carrying out door to door awareness drive in which KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar and AICC state incharge K C Venugopal are actively involved. “As CM’s proposed Janashirvada Yatra would have clashed with this campaign, it was decided to cancel the CM’s yatra,” sources said.
