Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has warned of stern action against anyone who maligns a particular minority community amidst the Corona crisis.
Speaking to a Kannada news channel on Monday, the Chief Minister said that no individual should resort to harassing or passing derogatory remarks against the minority community just because a handful of them acted in an unacceptable manner.
“Stern action will be taken against those who harass or malign the minority community members,” he said.
It may be recalled that some members of the minority community have been attacking ASHA workers and other frontline health workers in Bengaluru and other parts of the country. Several had even posted provocative posts on social networking sites.
Keeping all this in mind, and the possibilities of the minority community becoming targets in the future, the CM had said in clear terms that any action against the minority community will be dealt with sternly.
Meanwhile, he added that the lifting of the lockdown in the state will completely depend on the people.
