Bengaluru: A new train plying from Bengaluru to Vasco in Goa was flagged off by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa at Yeshwantpur railway station on Saturday, March 7. Accompanied by Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, Yediyurappa launched the locomotive service which will connect to the state’s coastal districts as well.

After kicking off from Bengaluru, train number 16595/16596 will stop at Udupi, Sakleshpur, Padil, and Karwar before reaching its destination in Vasco.

The train schedule states that it will depart from Yeshwantpur station at 6:45 pm, reach Karwar at 8:25 am, and finally arrive in Vasco at 3:25 pm the same day.

Tweeting about the newly-inaugurated train, Union Minister Angadi said, “Increasing connectivity, enhancing convenience” Alongside Hon’ble @CMofKarnataka Shri @BSYBJP, flagged off #Yesvantpur-#Karwar-#Vasco special express and conversion of coaches of #Yesvantpur-#Bijapur express into modern LHB coaches.”

In a separate statement, the South Western Railways said, “This train will provide direct connectivity to Bengaluru, Udupi, Kundapur, and Karwar and fulfill the long-standing demand of the people of the coastal region.”

The new train service will also drastically reduce travel time for passengers going directly to Udupi and Karwar, as it will not stop at Mangaluru city.
