Bengaluru: The cloud seeding programme undertaken by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department has been very successful with 10-25 percent rainfall recorded, Minister H K Patil said.

Speaking to reporters, he said that about 90 hours of cloud seeding was carried out in 37 days resulting in rainfall in various pockets of the state and termed it as a great scientific achievement.

The process has not only increased rainfall but also the moisture content in the soil significantly, observed H K Patil giving science the due credit.

The impact of the 587 cloud bursts (silver iodide flares are ignited and dispersed as an aircraft flies through the inflow of a cloud) carried out by two aeroplanes from Hubballi and Bangalore resulted in scattered rainfall in Channapatna, Magadi, Chennarayapatna, Arasikere and Kadur taluks.
