Bengaluru: Utilizing the auspicious occasion for the betterment of the needy, the residents from Patna offered special prayers at a Durga puja pandal in Aarti Nagar.
On Monday, which marked the ninth day of the Dasara festivity (also known as the “Maha Navami” in the Hindu calendar), a large number of the city’s Bihari residents participated in the event.
Arun Jha, organizer of the prayer service said that the offering of 108 ‘kanya’, a tradition followed in Bihar, was performed. He said that they had begun conducting the puja even before anyone started a Durga pandal in the city.
He added that this puja was specially organized for the flood victims of Bihar.
The puja witnessed hundreds of devotees flowing in to be blessed by the deity.
Meanwhile, one of the priests performing the puja said that they were deeply saddened by the catastrophic rains and floods that struck the state and that this prayer service was for them and for their well being.
