Bengaluru: Fearing that Friday prayers may be used by the anti-social elements to create tension in the city, Commissioner of Police (CoP) issued a statement via Twitter to ensure that such gatherings are not misused.

In a tweet, city police commissioner Bhaskara Rao informed: “#CABBill2019 concerns illegal immigrants and has nothing to do with Indian Muslims. There should b no anxiety or insecurity in the minds of Muslim brethren regarding their status.
Please do not believe in any rumors and fake news. All Indians are equal.”

His tweet comes amidst the fear of protests by Muslim community members in the city also as several organisations already raised voice against it.

Interestingly, a few welcomed the tweet by the CoP, a few others used the same to raise their concerns over the proposed NRC also.
