Bengaluru: In a big boost to the secular forces, JDS national president HD Deve Gowda, a prominent Vokkaliga leader from the state extended his support for the proposed Yesu Krista statue in Kapala Betta in Harobele near Kanakapura town.
Local Christian community is planning a 110 feet height Krista statue in the Kapala Betta, with support from sitting MLA and Congress strongman DK Shivakumar.
“I don’t have any objection for the proposed statue,” said Deve Gowda in the city.
He also took a dig at Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for leading a march against the statue. “Why people from Mangalore should come to Kanakapura and create trouble,” he questioned.
He also stated that when communal forces were attacking Christians, I visited the violence-hit areas. Others didn’t bother about it,” he said.
