Bengaluru: When all the BJP leaders are involved in a verbal attack on the former minister and Congress strongman DK Shivakumar on his decision to install a statue of Jesus Chirst at Harobele in his constituency, Hindutva poster boy, Kannada and Culture minister CT Ravi has surprised everyone by supporting DKShi.
Speaking to reporters, he observed that religious tolerance is one of the key features of the Hindu religion.
“If the statue of Christ is built with a good cause, I don’t have any objection. But it should not be used for politics,” he said.
Ravi said that Hinduism also believes in oneness of God, but the followers of the faith are given the freedom to see God in different forms. We need to protect the basic features of Hinduism, which bats for the religious tolerance and worship of all the Gods,” he said.
He recalled that people had protested against statue of Sardar Patel, Lord Rama too. But let sentiments not be mixed with politics, he said.
