Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed FIR against six persons including former union minister R L Jalappa in connection to bribing Medical Council of India (MCI) inspectors to give positive report on increasing the medical seat in the college.
According to the FIR registered by the CBI, it has been alleged that between 2012-14 when the MCI inspectors visited the Devraj Urs Medical College, Kolar run by the R L Jalappa Family Trust, inspectors were given bribe to report positively to increase the annual intake. This case has been registered based on the two notes recovered by the Income Tax department officers in their raid to the college in 2015. In these notes details of bribe payment were mentioned. Now based on these notes, CBI has registered FIR. An officer from union health ministry has also been named in the FIR.
R L Jalappa started the Arasu medical college in 1986.
