Bengaluru: As many as 20 patients who underwent a cataract operation in the government-run Minto hospital of the city last Tuesday, are yet to regain their sight. The hospital authorities have informed that they are waiting for a report on the issue, which will be available only on Monday.
According to the hospital sources, 25 patients underwent cataract operations in the hospital on Tuesday. But so far, 20 of them are unable to see. The hospital authorities suspect an adverse drug reaction.
All the patients are in the age group of 40 to 80 years. Dr. Sujatha Rathod, director of the hospital informed that the doctors are waiting for the lab reports which are expected to available on Monday.
“Over 10,000 patients undergo cataract surgery every year at the institute. No one has faced any problems till now,” she stated.
