Bengaluru: Three officials of the BBMP are in soup after the sterilisation procedure of stray dogs was botched up.

Taking up the issue, NGO Civil and Green Warriors filed a complaint with the Cottonpet police on June 6 against Joint Director of Animal Husbandry department Anand, Assistant Director Basavaraj and Animal Birth Control Centre in charge Abhilash Maddur, reported TOI.

The three have been booked under section 11 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act-1960 (mutilate or kill any animal in a cruel manner) and Section 428 (committing mischief of killing animal) and 34 (criminal act by several people) of the IPC.

As per PTI, activist Geetha Mishra, in her complaint to the commissioner of Bengaluru, stated that there were irregularities in the log sheet entries with regard to dogs picked up from the streets and that surgeries were botched up.
The activist alleged that the ear tips of the dogs were cut off (identification of sterilised dogs) even when surgeries were not performed and further, these dogs are deliberately being relocated to the Kanakapura forest and other areas so as to avoid alert locals from questioning the botch up.

However, Animal Birth Control Centre in charge Abhilash Maddur has told TOI that the allegations were far from the truth.
