Bengaluru: Former minister, MP, Kuruba community strongman C H Vijayashankar is expected to quit BJP and join Congress.

As per sources, the Congress party wants to field C H Vijayashankar from Piriyapattana constituency against JDS candidate H Vishwanath, another Kuruba strongman.

During his recent visit to Mysuru, CM Siddaramaiah met C H Vijayashankar and offered him a party ticket if he defects to party, said sources. Reportedly, C H Vijayashankar who is BJP farmer’s morcha president is upset that party state president B S Yeddyurappa has shown interest in another candidate for Piriyapattana constituency.

It can be recalled that C H Vijayashankar started his career as a MLA from Hunasur constituency of Mysuru district.

Meanwhile, as the news of his possible switchover spread, the BJP state leadership sent emissaries to C H Vijayashankar’s residence in Mysuru and tried to pacify him. C H Vijayashankar has made it clear that he will take a decision on his next political course of action in next one week.
