Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticised CM BS Yediyurappa by saying that he has “lost his common sense” with regard to the sedition case filed against an anti-CAA play performed in a Bidar school.
In a series of tweets, the Congress leader accused the police of acting at the behest of CM BSY while questioning the charges in the case as well. He wrote, “In a play enacted in Bidar school, the content was critical of @narendramodi & his policies. How can that amount to sedition? The arrest of the mother is unconstitutional & high-handed.”
It can be recalled that students of Bidar’s Shaheen School allegedly performed a play that was critical of the CAA legislation and PM Modi. Soon after, Shaheen School headmistress Fareeda Begum and a student’s mother Nazbunnisa were taken into police custody on charges of sedition.
“Mothers of this state will not pardon [Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa] for separating the mother and her daughter,” Siddaramaiah added.
The court is yet to deliver an order on the bail pleas of the two arrested persons.
