Bengaluru: The BJP MLAs, who have been camping at a resort in Gurugram for the past week, have, on January 19, been called back to the state.
Soon after a party meeting was held with their leaders in New Delhi, all 104 of the state’s BJP MLAs were staying at the ITC Grand Bharat resort in Gurugram.
A press note from the BJP’s state spokesperson, S Shantaram confirmed that state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa instructed all the party’s state MLAs to return without delay.
On Friday, BSY had denied claims that the party was doing anything to threaten the state coalition government. He said that they are instead making preparations to win 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Presently, chaos reigns supreme as speculations and rumours are rife that the BJP is attempting a coup by trying to poach MLAs from the Congress and JDS parties. As of now, two independent lawmakers have already withdrawn their support from the government. With four of the Congress’ MLAs- Ramesh Jarkiholi, Mahesh Kumathalli, Umesh Jadhav and B Nagendra, absenting themselves from the Congress’ recently held emergency meeting, fear is mounting that they, may switch loyalties. As of now, the party has issued notices to the four MLAs, seeking an explanation for their absence.
