Bengaluru: As many as 17 BJP MLAs from Bengaluru city have decided not to identify themselves with any of the party factions in the ongoing tussle between BS Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa.
A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of party city MLAs held at the residence of former Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) R Ashok.
“Meeting decided to continue to work only under the party symbol. It has also been decided that MLAs from city will neither talk to any rebel leader nor make statements in support of any faction. They have decided to wait for party national leadership’s decision on the 2018 assembly election strategy,” said a senior leader who participated in the meeting.
Sources said that the MLAs who discussed about the party issues at length, found that the common opinion that everyone raised was about the local politics of three districts-Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Davangere, which was causing turmoil in the party.
Meanwhile KS Eshwarappa is expected to continue his barbs against his leader BS Yeddyurappa on Monday too. “He is in Shivamogga. Party’s decision to relieve the responsibility of his supporter and MLC Bhanuprakash, a Brahmin leader from Shivamogga has hurt him. On Sunday, he was scheduled to meet party state in-charge Muralidhar Rao, but following this action, Eshwarappa avoided meeting Rao.
