Bengaluru: State health minister Ramesh Kumar has stated that there is a need to register a criminal case against Endo Sulfan producers and officers who permitted for its spraying in the state way back in the 70s, which wrecked lives of lakhs of people living in the region.

The deformed bodies of babies, youth and elderly are living testimony to the havoc the endo spraying has unleashed.

Speaking to reporters, after signing a MoU over providing skill training to Endo victims, Ramesh Kumar stated that this is the fit case for government action as wrong decision taken by the officers has affected scores of families.

He also announced that state government is planning to waive off all the loans of Endo victim families. “A proposal in this regard has been sent to the finance department for the approval,” he said.

Over two decades between 1980 and 2000, aerial spraying of Endosulfan wreaked havoc in three Karnataka districts – Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi – leaving many people with physical and intellectual deformities.
