Bengaluru: The BJP government has done what the previous government led by socialist Siddaramaiah could not. In a bold move, which is expected to create internal conflicts in the ruling BJP, the state government banned all kinds of superstitious beliefs and practices.

On Wednesday evening, the government issued a notification implementing the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act.

Blackmagic and various other rituals followed widely in the state including keeping the menstrual, lactating women outside the village etc are banned under this Act.

Originally this act was passed when Siddaramaiah was the CM. “But fearing that it may affect the party’s fortunes in the election he didn’t notify. Now it has been notified by the BJP government led by BS Yediyurappa,” added sources.
