Bengaluru: The BMTC has issued a circular banning the drivers from using mobile phones during the duty hours, starting from November 15. Conductors are not allowed to keep their mobiles even in the pocket. If any driver is found using the mobile during the duty hours, then he will be suspended immediately.

According to a circular issued by the BMTC, it has been found that few drivers are using the mobile phones while driving. “From November 15, no driver shall keep the mobile phones while on duty. They must leave their mobiles in the respective depots. The flying squads, which inspect bus passengers for the ticketless travel also must check the drivers to ensure that they do not have a mobile phone in their possession,” stated the circular.

“If any driver is found using the mobile phones on duty, they will be suspended from the service immediately,” warned the notification.

A depot manager informed that special arrangements will be made in all the bus depots to keep the mobile phones of the drivers.
