Bengaluru: Bengaluru city’s traffic police have got a new set of wheels to help them do their jobs better. Five brand new modified high-end bikes have been added to the Bengaluru Traffic Police’s list of traffic offences-fighting tools on Wednesday, September 14 to be used for quick response.

The bikes are Suzuki Gixxers that have been specially designed for police work. They were handed over to Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara by the company’s representatives.

Reportedly, the modifications include accommodation for an announcement system, wireless service, night visibility lights, siren and boot space for a first aid kit and other traffic equipment. As of now, the bikes are housed at the headquarters and will be deployed as first responders during emergencies.

Apart from their routine work of cracking down on traffic violations and quick response to road mishaps, the bikes are to be used to escort senior ministers, visiting dignitaries and for use during emergencies like natural disasters.

Reportedly impressed with the bikes, the police department has plans to order 90 more of such bikes to add to the existing ones.
