Bengaluru: Students of a private school on the Whitefield-Sarjapur Road urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to keep the country clean and pollution-free through hand-written letters, on Thursday, November 14.
According to a report by TOI, about 500 students, all aged between ages 6 to 10, participated in the exercise which was conducted on the occasion of Children’s Day.
Nooraine Fazal, co-founder and managing trustee, Inventure Academy told TOI, “The letters are powerful statements made by children, considering their age. They wrote about pollution and suggested how the situation could be made better.”
According to the report, the children, who were given 40 minutes to write their letters to the PM, wrote that they want to live and study in Bengaluru but the pollution was bothering them.
One of the children told TOI, “There are many problems in India and I have mentioned a few in my letter. There are rules such as one can use a vehicle for a certain number of years before it starts emitting harmful pollutants, but no one seems to take such things seriously and that concerns me a bit.”
In their letters, the children requested the PM to take action.
