Bengaluru: The state government has decided to transfer Bengaluru Rural SP Dr Bheemashankar S Guled after a compromising video of him went viral.
A video of the officer along with a woman was aired on numerous news channels and was also widely shared on social media. The video was reportedly shot by Dr Bheemashankar himself and submitted by the woman’s husband to the Koramangala police, as evidence that Dr Bheemashankar had pressurised her into giving him sexual favours. The husband has filed a complaint with the Koramangala police under the IPC section 497 (adultery).
The video was a source of great embarrassment to the police and this forced the government’s hand to transfer the officer. A position has, however, not yet been assigned to Dr Bheemashankar.
After a discussion at the Vidhana Soudha, it was decided that Dr Bheemashankar would be transferred and DCP (traffic) West Bengaluru T Shivakumar would be brought in as his replacement.
Dr Bheemashankar has, however, denied all allegations and has maintained his innocence in the matter throughout.
