Bengaluru: According to the final counting details released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP took leads in 171 Assembly segments of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies.
According to the data, the alliance parties received leads in 46 Assembly segments while independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh got leads in seven Assembly segments.
“Compared to the Assembly elections held a year ago, the BJP was able to improve its performance in the various Assembly segments. But generally, the voting pattern in the Lok Sabha and Vidhana Sabha elections are different. This is just a calculation based on the party-wise performance in the Lok Sabha elections,” said a BJP leader.
“At this juncture, no MLA wants to go for a new election. Instead, they too prefer a strong government in the state,” he explained.
State cabinet expansion
According to sources in the JDS, the party is persuading their alliance partner- the Congress to agree to a cabinet expansion. “The idea is to ensure that not more than 1 or 2 MLAs will quit the party in the event that the BJP launches ‘Operation Kamala’,” said a JDS leader from Bengaluru city.
