Bengaluru: The BJP state working committee will be holding its first meeting after the state Assembly elections today (Friday).

Besides providing a stage for introspection, after failing to retain power in the state by a small margin this meeting will also hold discussions on the upcoming Parliamentary elections. Though party State President B S Yeddyurappa had invited BJP National President Amit Shah for the meet during when the two met at Ahmedabad three days ago, the latter will be skipping today’s meeting. However, he has given directions regarding the issues to be discussed in the meeting.

Amit Shah has entrusted the state BJP leaders with the tough task of winning 22 to 25 Parliamentary seats in the state and the state unit has to submit the list of probable candidates by July end. The other issue that may come up for discussion include the visible differences between JDS and Congress party in the coalition government, how to play the role of strong opposition during the budget session, what should be the stand of the party in different occasions. The party may also discuss the Sangolli Rayanna brigade issue.

After the working committee meeting, there will be BJP core committee meeting at the end. There internal matters of the party, opposition leader in the Legislative Council, deputy, and chief whip posts appointments will be decided.
