Bengaluru: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, on Thursday, January 23, verbally attacked the BJP and its leaders, terming them as an ‘anti-social’ party.
Addressing the gathering at the Janata Dal (Secular) state-level convention, he said, “According to the BJP leaders, I am only concerned about the Muslim vote bank and that is the reason I went to Mangaluru to meet the family of the two innocents who lost their lives in the recent Mangaluru police firing during the CAA protest violence. Let me be clear that I know no religion or caste. I’ve never said that Muslims were killed in the police firing. I said ‘innocents’.”
Further, he said, “The BJP only knows bloodshed and how to damage the social fabric”.
Mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, HDK said, “The reason PM Modi no longer goes on foreign visits for programmes is because other countries are rejecting him because of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).”
Speaking on the occasion, JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda said, “Muslims have been treated as second-class citizens in this country. The CAA was passed in the Rajya Sabha is because the Opposition is weak there. It is high time for the Congress party and other regional parties to wake up and strengthen themselves. We all must support HDK as he is neglecting his health and toiling hard for the party to become strong.”
