Bengaluru: After reports emerged that ‘Operation Kamal’ is in effect to topple the Congress-JDS coalition government in Karnataka, BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa, on Monday, January 14, denied the claims. He instead claimed that it was the Congress and JDS who were trying to convert the opposition’s MLAs.
Regarding the speculations that the BJP was indulging in “resort politics”, BSY said that this was untrue and that the 104 BJP MLAs were in New Delhi to discuss strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Elaborating further, BSY said that the party has taken suggestions from the legislators regarding the candidature for the Lok Sabha elections and that they would remain there for one or two days. He said that the MLAs would return to their constituencies after the meeting, to begin their work related to the LS elections.
While speaking to reporters in New Delhi, BSY said that the state government should divert their attention to development instead of trying to cause confusion.
As the controversies and speculation continue to plague the state coalition government, six to eight Congress MLAs are reportedly willing to move over to the BJP’s side. Reports also claim that some of these rebel MLAs have ceased communication.
