Bengaluru: The BJP, on Tuesday, November 19, expelled party member Sharath Bachegowda as he is contesting in the upcoming by-polls as an independent candidate.

It can be recalled that Sharath, on November 13, had announced that he would be contesting as an independent candidate from the Hoskote constituency, soon after which former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the JD(S) will support him.

Even though Sharath was an aspirant for the ticket, the BJP decided to give the ticket to M T B Nagaraj, who is among the 17 disqualified MLAs who were recently cleared by the Supreme Court to contest in the elections.

After he was passed over for the ticket, he decided to contest as an independent candidate.
